California storm water drain project

Caltrans D3 & D7 LID Pilot Project

Location: Elk Grove & Los Angeles, CA

Caltrans Storm Water Quality Division retained M3 Integrated Services, Inc. to construct the District 3 and 7 Low Impact Development (LID) pilot BMP projects. The projects involved the construction of various linear storm water filters to treat sheet flow run-off from Interstate 5 in Elk Grove and Interstate 210 in Los Angeles California. The types of filters included Linear Filtration Trench, Bioretention Trench, Media Filter Drain, Linear Sand Filter and Linear Infiltration Trench. The individual filters were monitored over a four-year period to determine the effectiveness of removing sediment, heavy metals, oils, and other toxic pollutants prior to discharge. The project was completed on schedule and budget between August 2014 to March 2015.
